Feel well, stay well in the Bavarian Capital:The Westin Grand Munich
If you have known me for a while, you’ll know that I love travelling (stating the obvious) and trying out different kinds of accommodations – Couchsurfing (remember the shower loving cat?), AirBnB, hostels and hotels . Each place has its pros and cons and hey, things can go wrong anywhere! But, sometimes, your main purpose of travel to the destination, mood or travel companions can affect the type of accommodation you go for.Perhaps, you want a comfortable stay or you are going for a conference/business trip or even travelling with family. Now, what if the place you choose strives to make you feel well throughout your stay and surprises you continuously? I don’t know about you but I was jumping with joy and excitement intermittently through my stay at The Westin Grand Munich recently! For starters, look at the welcome I received:
A personalized message and a platter of dessert was awaiting me in my room on the 15th floor!
The hotel goes by the motto of ‘Feel well. Stay well.Eat Well’, and everything they do makes you believe how serious they are in their efforts. It is located at Arabellapark,Munich and it takes exactly 10 minutes to reach the subway stop from the Central Station.Just hop on a U4 metro or take a taxi, as you please. From each room having the extremely comfortable ‘Heavenly Bed’ and rain showers to their wellness area including the Arabella Spa, saunas, indoor pool, 24 hour fitness area and also the fact that they provide you with a 24 hour room service – you are bound to have a relaxing stay there!

Just chilling and checking out the room service menu in my room!

All set to unwind in the wellness area. The robe and slippers are available in the room itself.Extras can be asked via room service.
FOOD
As a foodie, I was glad to see a special ‘Midnight snack’ room service menu, for days you might return late to the hotel, having skipped dinner. They also had different recommendations and menus for breakfast as well as food you could order before sleeping- which would not be heavy and help you sleep well. The breakfast at Zen was sumptuous by the way. They kept to their ‘Eat well.Feel Well’ theme for sure and had a lot of fresh juices in the buffet. On weekends, the breakfast is available till 12 pm because they really want you to relax and sleep-in instead of hurrying for breakfast/brunch!Besides, you can get great meals for lunch and dinner at the Paulaner Beer Garden located at the hotel, and some excellent cocktails at the Ducktails Bar.

Brunch for two, please! What a great variety of options to choose from!

They welcome you with fresh and healthy juices!
BUSINESS AND UPGRADES
The Westin Grand has one of the biggest business centres too.It is located just beside the Sheraton Arabellapark, and both these places are a part of the Starwood Group- which encompasses hundreds of hotels around the world. If you are attending a conference in Munich, there are high chances of it being hosted in one of these two hotels. Besides, if you are a SPG member (Starwood Preferred Guest),you get special rooms, upgrades , additional amenities and points each time you stay in a Starwood property anywhere in the world.I just signed up for it this time, and if you like, you can do so online too. SPG members also get access to the exclusive business lounge on the 22nd floor of the Westin Grand Munich, where you can work on the computers available, have meetings or enjoy a cup of coffee while overlooking the city.
GETTING AROUND
My room had a good view of the city and I could see the giant art installation directly as well as the Olympia Tower in the distance. If you are ever in Munich, try visiting the Olympic Park,Tower and the BMW Museum in that area. I had visited those places on a prior visit; so,did not go there again. But, there was a direct tram 16 from behind the hotel to Schloss Nymphenburg, which is a beautiful castle. It takes longer than the metro connections, but you get to see a lot more of the city too. By the way, a day ticket for the inner city costs around 6 Euros and a 3 day ticket costs 16 Euros. As I mentioned earlier, the city centre is just a 10 minute metro ride away. So, you will not have problems in sightseeing and exploring. The hotel itself offers bus tours to Neuschwanstein and the surrounding castles and also offers city tour suggestions, maps and sells tickets for public transport.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The Westin is a luxury hotel but is affordable too and worth it. If you book in advance from their website, prices start at 100 Euros for a standard double room. You can choose whether or not you’d like to pay for breakfast in addition.A Double Deluxe can cost around 25o Euros and prices would be higher for a Grand Deluxe or one of the suites. Of course, prices vary depending on the season and demand. I just looked up their website and saw that they are running a special offer for Oktoberfest already. If you book your stay until June 16, you can get a 30% discount! They also have a lot of other offers, such as a 21% discount if you book 21 days in advance, etc. You can see them all here, on their website.
AFTERTHOUGHTS
It was the first time I stayed at a Westin hotel, and was thoroughly impressed. Even when I had a problem with heating in my newly renovated room, they were quick to get it fixed and get me an additional heater too, just in case I’d need it.The staff members were extremely helpful and courteous and the ambiance was fantastic. Plus, remember I mentioned about a surprise earlier? Well, after the welcome desserts and my trip to the city, I came back to also find a complimentary wine on my table!Talk about making guests feel really special! I absolutely loved the breakfast, the pool and saunas. I stayed there for two days, but wish I had more time to just stay in and relax. However, now that I’m a SPG member, I shall look out for Starwood and especially Westin Hotels, whenever I’d want a wellness stay.
Would you like staying at the Westin too? Or perhaps, you have a favourite hotel / accommodation option already? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks to the Westin Grand Munich for partially covering my stay.I loved the place and would go back certainly.

I’ve not stayed in Westin yet either but I love this midnight snack idea! Sometimes with this travelling malarky I just want to hide in a comfortable hotel room so that would be ideal.

Looks great. #MondayEscapes

I love the idea of the midnight snack – seems they have an impressive variety of food, and I like that they’ve thought over different options. I quite often find I just want something light, and the menu is all full meals and burgers. Thanks for linking up with #citytripping

You could certainly order some white tea or other light food that is found to be suitable to eat before going to bed..i loved this idea too!

Love the slippers and fresh juice! It’s little touches like these that really make a hotel stay memorable. I’ll be heading to Munich later this year. I’m an SPG Gold member so I’ll definitely be looking into a stay at the Westin Grand Munich. Looks great!

You are an SPG Gold Member! That is brilliant! I just signed up for the program now, so it will take long for me to reach that tier, I suppose. Let me know if you stay at Westin Grand Munich and if you like it too:)

Sounds like my kind of hotel! Can’t beat an indoor pool and 24 hour room service. Fortunately I have a good amount of SPG points so this would be a good option for me.

Looks lovely! I have many friends in Munich that I would stay with, but will definitely check them out when I had to a different destination.
Nice little sweet treat they left – I was laughing at the fact that they had already incorporated the new instagram logo 🙂
